Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 11, 2026

MeatGrader is a community of meat enthusiasts, butchers, chefs, and home cooks who share a passion for quality meat. These guidelines help keep our community welcoming, informative, and enjoyable for everyone. By using MeatGrader's social features (MeatMap spots, discussions, comments, and profiles), you agree to follow these guidelines.

1. Be Respectful

Treat every member of the community with respect, regardless of their experience level or background. We welcome beginners and experts alike.

  • Be constructive in your feedback and comments
  • Disagree respectfully — focus on the topic, not the person
  • No harassment, bullying, personal attacks, or threatening behavior
  • No discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic
  • No hate speech or slurs of any kind

2. Keep It Relevant

MeatGrader is about meat quality, grading, and the culinary experience. Help us maintain a focused and useful community.

  • Share content related to meat quality, cuts, grading, cooking, sourcing, and butchery
  • MeatMap spots should feature real locations where you've found quality meat
  • Discussions should be relevant to the community's interests
  • Avoid off-topic content, spam, or repetitive posts

3. Share Authentic Content

Authenticity is the foundation of a trustworthy community. Share real experiences and honest assessments.

  • Only post photos you've taken yourself or have permission to use
  • Don't misrepresent the grade, quality, or origin of meat
  • Be honest in your reviews and spot ratings
  • Don't create fake accounts or impersonate others
  • Don't artificially inflate engagement (fake upvotes, coordinated activity)

4. No Spam or Excessive Self-Promotion

We welcome businesses that are part of the community, but keep promotional content balanced with genuine participation.

  • No unsolicited advertising or spam
  • Business owners may share their products when it adds value to the conversation
  • Don't repeatedly post the same content or links
  • No multi-level marketing, affiliate schemes, or scams

5. Prioritize Food Safety

As a food-related community, we have a responsibility to promote safe practices.

  • Don't share advice that could lead to foodborne illness
  • Don't recommend unsafe storage, handling, or cooking temperatures
  • If you notice potentially unsafe practices in a post, flag it or comment constructively
  • Remember that AI grading is informational — it does not replace professional food safety inspection

6. Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal and potential account suspension:

  • Graphic violence, animal cruelty, or content depicting animal suffering
  • Sexually explicit or pornographic material
  • Content promoting illegal activities, including illegal hunting or poaching
  • Personal information of others shared without consent (doxxing)
  • Malware, phishing links, or any content designed to harm users
  • Content that promotes or glorifies eating disorders
  • Misinformation about food safety presented as fact

7. Photo Guidelines

Great photos make the community better for everyone. For MeatMap spots and analyses:

  • Photos should clearly show the meat cut or product
  • Use good lighting — natural light or bright artificial light works best
  • Don't use heavily filtered or misleading images
  • Don't post photos of live animals or slaughter
  • Ensure photos are appropriate for a general audience

8. Reporting and Moderation

We rely on the community to help maintain these standards.

  • Use the report feature to flag content that violates these guidelines
  • You can block users whose content you don't want to see
  • Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes action as needed
  • Don't abuse the reporting system to target users you disagree with

9. Consequences

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  • Content removal
  • A warning from our moderation team
  • Temporary suspension of social features
  • Permanent account suspension for severe or repeated violations

The severity of the action depends on the nature and frequency of the violation. We aim to be fair and proportionate in all moderation decisions.

10. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines as our community grows. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use of MeatGrader's social features after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
